Boujaad–Zanafi Chromatic Blocks — Ivory Ground with Feathered Joins
Boujaad–Zanafi Chromatic Blocks — Ivory Ground with Feathered Joins
Boujaad–Zanafi Chromatic Blocks — Ivory Ground with Feathered Joins (250 × 150 cm)
A Middle Atlas Boujaad workshop interpreting the Zanafi hanbel in a modernist register: saturated blocks of carmine, saffron, marigold, slate-grey, and deep indigo float on an undyed ivory field. Soft, feathered edges where colors meet create a painterly transition—gallery-clean yet unmistakably Amazigh.
Weave & Touch
Traditional flat-weave (kilim/hanbel) with interlocked tapestry color changes to achieve the blurred joins, complemented by a hand-braided end band with red cross-stitch and soft tassels. The handle is firm yet supple and largely reversible for versatile placement under dining tables or in high-traffic salons.
