Collection: Kilim and Hanbel on Residence

Kilim — Residence Edit

The kilim is Morocco’s architectural flatweave—sleek, graphic, and quietly luxurious. Hand-loomed in the Atlas using tightly beaten wefts, these pieces deliver a low profile with high impact: ideal for dining rooms, home offices, hallways, and layered living spaces.

Why it works in residence

  • Low-profile & door-friendly—chairs glide; perfect under dining tables.
  • Graphical clarity—lattices, chevrons, and talismanic bands anchor minimalist interiors.
  • Durable & breathable—excellent for high-traffic zones and radiant-heat floors.
  • Lightweight—easy to rotate, style, and seasonally layer with pile rugs.

Provenance & Craft

Woven by Amazigh artisans across the Middle and High Atlas—Zanafi, Zemmour, Taznakht, Glawa, and related lineages—using wool (and, in select cases, cotton warps) on horizontal looms. Techniques include slit-tapestry, soumak, and raised relief bands (henbel) for subtle texture.

Care

Vacuum routinely (suction only). Address spills immediately with cold water and a clean cloth. For a full refresh, request Atelier des Atlas professional wash. Rotate quarterly.
