Chromatic Tartan — Beni Mrirt Grid with Golden Traverse

Chromatic Tartan — Beni Mrirt Grid with Golden Traverse

Chromatic Tartan — Beni Mrirt Grid with Golden Traverse (2025)

A contemporary Beni Mrirt woven in a plush, dense pile: deep navy borders a reticulated field of forest green blocks and umber verticals, cut by a single saffron band that moves horizontally across the mid-field. Classic flatweave aprons with natural fringe complete the structure—sumptuous underfoot, graphic in presence.

Glyph Reading

The gridded reticulation organizes space into ordered cells—an Amazigh logic of containment and clarity. The golden transverse band acts as a threshold line (bar of passage): prosperity, continuity, and safe crossing from one field to the next. Energetically, the piece grounds a room while introducing a decisive axis of light.
