Layer Echo is a Marmoucha rug from the Northern Middle Atlas. Its ivory surface carries bands of raised texture, with lower channels that define the design through light and shadow.

Design Vocabulary

Horizontal ridges step across the center, while angled bands along either side form a broad chevron outline. The nearly monochrome field puts the emphasis on relief, proportion and the rhythm of the lines. A row of tasselled fringe finishes the near edge in the current photograph.
