Architectural Silence – Zanafi Joha Kilim in Ash and Chalk Geometry
Architectural Silence – Zanafi Joha Kilim in Ash and Chalk Geometry
Architectural Silence is a Joha kilim from the Zanafi weaving tradition of Morocco, rendered in a striking monochrome palette. Geometric ivory diamonds float across an ash-black field, echoing architectural tiling and symbolic Amazigh patterning.
This kilim’s minimal tones and strong visual rhythm make it ideal for modernist interiors or minimalist spaces where clarity and structure are desired. The flatweave structure allows for versatile use—floor rug, wall hanging, or layering statement.
Woven entirely by hand using naturally dyed wool, the precision of the Joha construction gives this rug both lightness and strength. The subtle fringes along the bottom edge soften the rigidity of the form, while the craftsmanship sustains centuries of tribal visual grammar.
