Tethered Echoes – Beni Ourain Rug with Narrow Lozenge Grid
Tethered Echoes – Beni Ourain Rug with Narrow Lozenge Grid
Tethered Echoes is a handcrafted Beni Ourain rug that distills the timeless Amazigh grid into a lean, meditative form. Woven in the Central Middle Atlas, its interlaced black lozenges stretch vertically across an undyed wool field, creating a rhythmic visual cadence—like echoes anchored in the land.
Each lozenge (ⵙ), or akhrab, symbolizes femininity, protection, and continuity—core values encoded in Amazigh oral and visual heritage. Their narrow silhouettes suggest rooted movement and intentional stillness, mirroring both ancestral structure and modern restraint.
This rug’s organic wool is free of dyes, allowing the pure materiality to shine through. Its monochrome minimalism offers serenity while conveying depth, ideal for interiors embracing both heritage and contemporary purity.
