Tifawin – Amazigh Expression in Color and Form

Tifawin – Amazigh Expression in Color and Form

Tifawin—meaning “lights” or “revelations” in Tamazight—is an exuberant expression of contemporary Amazigh visual language. This handwoven piece fuses ancestral weaving knowledge with an unapologetically modern aesthetic, where blocks of saturated color and embedded glyphs become vessels of meaning and rhythm.

The rug is grounded in a lush rose-red field—feminine, warm, and sacred—interrupted by graphic gestures in turquoise, cobalt, ochre, and black. Each motif is hand-knotted in thick, plush wool, referencing both tribal signs and painterly abstraction. At once a textile and a visual manifesto, this rug reads like a woven mural: a confrontation between tradition and avant-garde storytelling.

Placed in a contemporary space, Tifawin becomes an instant focal point—both sculptural and soft—ideal for collectors and interiors curating narrative and energy through design.

  • Glyph Markings: Embedded tribal signs resembling zigzag paths and lozenge variants—echoes of protection and lineage
