Golden Tesserae – Beni Mrirt PomPom Grid in Handspun Wool

Golden Tesserae – Beni Mrirt PomPom Grid in Handspun Wool

Golden Tesserae is a Beni Mrirt creation that draws its visual rhythm from repetition and relief. Handwoven in the Middle Atlas, this piece features a plush three-dimensional PomPom grid—each square individually sculpted in high-pile wool, forming a quilted terrain of warmth and tactility.

The undyed ivory field and golden ochre motifs nod to Morocco’s architectural past: from sunlit zellige to mosaic vaults. Yet its minimalism speaks to contemporary sensibilities. The PomPom weave not only adds depth and softness, but also invites quiet indulgence beneath the feet.

Ideal for spaces where texture and stillness meet, this piece harmonizes comfort and craftsmanship in a single, sculptural surface.
