Snowfield Tizerzai – Beni Mrirt Rug with Fibule Symbolism

Snowfield Tizerzai – Beni Mrirt Rug with Fibule Symbolism

Snowfield Tizerzai is an heirloom Beni Mrirt rug that captures ancestral symbolism through minimalist elegance. Woven in the Aït Zayne region of the Central Middle Atlas, this piece features the tizerzai—a traditional Amazigh fibule—stylized in bold black and brown yarns across a soft, undyed wool surface.

The tizerzai symbol, often used to fasten cloaks, is reimagined here as a graphic motif of strength and feminine guardianship. Its symmetrical layout and axial positioning evoke protection, passage, and sacred geometry rooted in Amazigh cosmology.

The rug’s neutral tones—achieved without chemical dye—preserve the organic depth of the wool. It offers a modern calm while transmitting profound cultural resonance. A perfect piece for collectors or serene interiors seeking authentic, narrative-rich textures.
