Lacustrine Silence – Beni Mrirt Rug in Indigo and Ecru
Lacustrine Silence – Beni Mrirt Rug in Indigo and Ecru
Lacustrine Silence is a meditative composition born from the Beni Mrirt weaving tradition. Rendered in soft shades of indigo, ivory, and cloud-grey, this rug evokes the serene stillness of a mountain lake at dawn. The chromatic restraint and linear minimalism speak to the evolving design language of the contemporary Amazigh artisan.
Handwoven using high-density wool, the rug features both loop and cut pile sections, creating a rich topography of texture underfoot. Its sparse use of glyphic references allows the visual silence to resonate more deeply—this is a rug that listens as much as it speaks.
Featured Glyphs & Motifs
- Stepped Zigzag Lines: symbolizing water currents, or the ripple of movement beneath still surfaces.
- Negative Space Bands: serve as intervals of breath—pauses within the textile composition echoing silence in nature.
